Morning Info Event – The growing ICT-markets of the Persian Gulf

Exigo invited Finnish ICT companies to morning info event on Monday 30th August 2010. The purpose of the event was to give an insight on the rapidly growing ICT-markets of the GCC countries. The event was held in Tampere, Finlayson area. The info event seemed to be interesting and needed, so many companies were present!

The opportunities available in the UAE`s Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry are growing quickly. The value of the local market is expected to reach $2.4 billion by 2011 from $1.5 billion in 2006. The United Arab Emirates is expected to become the region`s premier ICT hub due to its heavy investments, which are aimed at boosting the technological potential of the country. In terms of future growth in the Gulf countries, ICT market by 2010: (Country – Value) Kuwait – $875m, Qatar – $398m, Oman – $400m, Bahrain – $375m.

First presentation, by Nina Eriksson, Exigo, considered the Persian Gulf markets, business culture, and business opportunities for Finnish exporters.

Second presentation was held by Timo Nurminen, Frontier Consulting FZ-LLC, Dubai. The presentation focused on ongoing case studies on the UAE and Oman and also how Finnish ICT companies can succeed in that area.

Exigo will organize info events regarding specified markets and business branches also in the future.

An alternative approach to direct exporting is the use of an export management and consulting company. This approach requires limited use of a firm’s time and resources in building international business.
